Yates County awards $1.288 million contract to repair Bellona drainage; Button abstains

Yates County awarded the contract for the Hamlet of Bellona drainage improvement project to City Hill Excavating, Inc. for a total bid price of $1,288,000, the Legislature reported on May 11.
Resolution No. 219-26 follows an engineering review by Barton & Loguidice, D.P.C., which recommended City Hill Excavating as the lowest responsible bidder. The project was expedited for summer 2026 construction to coordinate with planned reconstruction of Pre-emption Road in 2027. Bids were opened after project documents were advertised; two firms submitted bids with City Hill Excavating submitting the low bid.
The minutes record that the motion to award the contract carried, and note Mr. Button abstained from the vote. The resolution directs the Chair, contingent upon County Attorney approval, to execute necessary documents and requires copies of the resolution be forwarded to county staff, the engineering firm, and all bidders.
The resolution notes funding is included in the 2026 Highway Department budget contingent on pending CHIPS funding and that the award is subject to County Attorney review for contract execution.
