Commissioner Carolyn Rice presented a proclamation recognizing the role of Dayton Public Schools nurses during International Nurses Week at the Board’s May 5 meeting.
Jordan Harris, Health Services Director for Dayton Public Schools, told the Board the district serves approximately 13,000 students with the support of nearly 30 school nurses. Harris described school nurses as trusted resources who help reduce health-related absences, support compliance with health requirements, and collaborate with families, educators and healthcare providers to foster healthy learning environments. He thanked the Commissioners for their support and urged continued focus on early childhood health.
