During the meeting’s remarks, Commissioner Mary A. McDonald thanked Omega Baptist Church and Rev. Joshua Ward for donating more than 50 new suitcases to Montgomery County Children's Services, noting the items help children entering foster care. She also thanked Children's Services caseworkers and highlighted the county’s trail network celebrated on Trails Day.
Commissioner Judy Dodge announced nominations for the 2026 Food Champion Awards with a June 5 deadline and a recognition event on Aug. 7; Commissioner Carolyn Rice promoted tours of the Montgomery County Environmental Learning Center and announced the next board meeting for May 5 at the Historic Courthouse and the May 30 State of the County at Sinclair Community College.
