Council approves consent agenda including dozens of liquor-license renewals

At its June 24 meeting the Washington Township Council approved a lengthy consent agenda covering a range of routine and substantive municipal actions. Township Clerk Christine Ciallella read resolutions R149 through R182, which included the renewal of numerous liquor licenses for local businesses, cancellations of property taxes for several totally disabled veterans, release of maintenance bonds for Washington Square Urban Renewal projects, and a resolution stating the township's need for affordable housing under N.J.S.A. 55:14K-1 et seq.
The motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Mr. Brown and seconded by Mr. Harris; Councilmembers Harris, Pasqualone, Yerkes, Brown and Council President Del Borrello voted yes. The items were approved with no discussion. The clerk's reading included specific financial and program items such as a request to appropriate National Opioid Settlement funds of $4,776.32 and authorization to seek a $250,000 state appropriation for Washington Lake Park safety upgrades.
