The Horry County Zoning Board of Appeals granted a rural tourism special-exception to allow an event venue on 29 acres at 1625 Bucksville Drive to continue operating as an event center (case 2024-07-008). Applicant Sydney F. Thompson Jr. said the venue has operated for about 15—16 years and will continue primarily as a wedding venue.
Staff reminded the board the permit limits events to 499 people unless a special-event permit is obtained from public safety, requires compliance with the county noise ordinance for any outdoor amplified sound and sets hours of operation from 8 a.m. until midnight. The board voted in favor of the request on roll call and the applicant was told to comply with the master plan and operational plan conditions submitted to code enforcement.
