Housing staff seek public comment on annual HOME/CDBG/ESG report; committee to send to council

Housing program staff summarized the annual HUD entitlement community report for the committee, highlighting program outcomes over the last fiscal year.
The staff member reported completion of 18 home rehabilitations, rent and utility assistance to 149 people via a partner organization in Myrtle Beach, 152 people assisted through a food pantry program, eviction mitigation for 66 individuals, ESG spending of about $276,000 serving 97 people, and approximately $800,000 in HOME spending with five completed new constructions and seven additional houses under construction. "I'll touch on some highlights, and, that would include completion of 18 rehabs... Myrtle Beach helped a 149 people with rent and utility assistance," the housing staff said.
Staff announced a public comment period from Aug. 9 to Aug. 23 and asked the committee to forward the report to county council at the Sept. 3 meeting to allow time for public review. The committee moved, seconded, and voted to present the report to council.
