Commissioners approve right-of-entry for donated Veterans Service Office sign

State Representative Jim Lucas is coordinating donation of a sign from The Awning Guy for the Jackson County Veterans Service Office at no cost to the county.
INDOT indicated the sign may be installed near State Road 135 provided it is not located on INDOT right-of-way. To satisfy that requirement, the county entered a right-of-entry and signage agreement with an adjacent property owner. Commissioner Drew Markel moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Andrew Stauffer seconded the motion and it carried with three yes votes.
The agreement allows the county to place signage for the Veterans Service Office without using state right-of-way; installation and maintenance responsibilities are specified in the right-of-entry agreement recorded by the county.
