Committee approves technology upgrades and grants; Apple and AV contracts authorized

The school committee approved several noncontroversial contract awards and grant acceptances during the meeting's consent- and non-consent agenda.
The committee authorized routine instructional-technology refresh agreements to replace interactive presentation boards (moving to BenQ boards) through Avidex Industries and approved an Apple device agreement to provide staff and student devices as part of the district's instructional-technology lifecycle. Information provided by ICTS staff described these as cyclical replacement and maintenance contracts with maximum-authority amounts that do not mean the administration will necessarily spend the full maximum.
Separately the committee accepted a $100,000 state "fair share" earmark to establish a sensory makerspace at the Cambridgeport School and to help offset tile and panel repairs at King Open, and approved a Massachusetts Cultural Council Creative Experiences grant for three schools. Members asked the administration to send a note of thanks to the state senator who helped secure the earmark.
