The Commissioners' Court approved several routine governance items during its Dec. 9 meeting. Commissioner Tim Alexander moved to approve a bond for Commissioner Dale Schafer and later amended a motion to approve bonds for Chris Jackson and Brent Clapp; both motions carried unopposed. The court also approved a resolution supporting a county motor-fuel tax exemption on a motion by Commissioner Tim Alexander, seconded by Commissioner Dale Schafer, with no opposition recorded.
The court approved the treasurer's report and multiple sets of bills (computer-generated and hand-stamped). Two invoice votes included recorded abstentions: the court approved an Alexander's invoice for $100.32 with Commissioner Tim Alexander abstaining, and it approved three invoices from Schafer Services totaling $855.00 with Commissioner Dale Schafer abstaining. In announcements, Judge Lisa Johnson said the county received a surplus check from the TAC Health and Employee Benefits Pool for $8,530.87, that open enrollment for insurance would be held Dec. 11, and that Xcel Energy will install panoramic wildfire-detection cameras on communications towers in several Panhandle counties including Hemphill County at no charge.
