Principal and student representative highlight club growth, grant and memorial plans

Principal Ivan Nunez and Student Representative Grace Fan updated the board on student life at Kingsburg High School. Nunez said Assistant Principal Eric Rodriguez started a Fishing Club that has grown to more than 100 students; Rodriguez secured a $1,000 grant and is working with Turner Outdoorsman on equipment. Nunez also reported the district is supporting the family and students following the death of a student, noting counseling and psychologist support and student-led memorial activities.
Student Representative Grace Fan said Rivalry Week events and the Veterans Day Rally went well, that ASB officers will plan the Formal Dance, and that students plan a purple balloon release and a video for the family at the Friday memorial. The minutes state the board offered support but do not record further action on the memorial activities.
