The Clark County Planning Commission voted July 7 to recommend Ordinance 03-26, a new subdivision ordinance intended to provide standards for streets, utilities, open space and coordination with the comprehensive plan.
Luke Muller explained the ordinance's purpose: to ensure streets are coordinated with existing and planned routes, provide adequate traffic and utility infrastructure, and create standards for sanitary and other improvements as land is subdivided. The commission adopted an amendment requiring, unless otherwise approved, that all streets be within one foot of being centered in the right-of-way and allowing the road authority to require a survey at the developer's expense prior to right-of-way dedication. The first reading of the ordinance was performed; the second reading is set for July 21, 2026.
Commissioners characterized the ordinance as a tool to promote orderly development and consistent infrastructure improvements across Clark County.
