Royal City planning staff: Comp Plan review done; ordinance, hearing needed; six new permits issued

Planning & Building representative Alex Kovach told the council that the Department of Commerce completed the 60-day review of the city’s Comprehensive Plan update and returned several minor comments, including that the plan’s anticipated population growth differs from the county projection. Kovach said an ordinance and a hearing are required to move the plan forward.
Kovach also reported permitting and development activity: six new homes have been permitted and 12 are in the queue. He said CAD Homes is finishing infrastructure needed to release a performance bond. On Catholic Family Charities’ (CFC) proposed development, Kovach said the project is proceeding but uses federal funding and therefore must meet NEPA requirements, which are more rigorous and time-consuming. The minutes do not include dates for hearings or ordinance introduction.
