Royal Golf Association says $12,000 balance won’t last to spring; council approves $30,000 support

Bob Murphy, representing the Royal Golf Association, told the Royal City Council the course has seen increased play but relies on used equipment and short-term financing. He said the association ‘‘currently have[s] a balance of $12,000.00, which will not sustain them until spring,’’ and asked for $30,000 to cover general expenses and keep the course operating as a community service.
After discussion about RV spot rates, contributions from the Royal Port District and the local school district’s use by the golf team, the council moved to amend an earlier Nov. 18, 2025 authorization that had designated $20,000 for a mower. The motion to increase the allocation to $30,000 for the Royal Golf Association’s general fund (m/s Kannely/Rodriguez) carried, formalizing additional operating support for the course.
