Committee approves adding part-time utility account clerk to support meter change-out; funding from enterprise fund

Administrator Wendy introduced a request from Supervisor Kennison to add a part-time utility account clerk and noted the position would be funded through the water and wastewater enterprise fund rather than the general fund. Supervisor Kennison said the utility office previously had three staff sharing duties but is now down to "1.4" full-time equivalents and that the meter change-out program will require additional capacity.

Kennison said the role is intended to capture metering and billing knowledge so it can be shared and to provide backup for billing questions. The committee voted to forward the request to the Common Council; roll call recorded Alders Wharton Wheeler, Cleveland and Truhart voting Aye and the motion carried 3–0. The administrator said the funding is internal to the utility enterprise fund and will not draw from the general fund.
