Board approves beer & wine license application and home‑occupation request with staff conditions

During the public‑hearing portion of the May 5 meeting, planning staff (Ruth) presented two items that were vote‑eligible and approved by the board.
Ruth said the beer and wine license application was submitted by Nimesh Kumar Patel for 1748 Vernon Road, a convenience store and gas station in a limited commercial zone. No members of the public spoke in opposition or support during the hearing; the item was approved on a first reading.
Ruth also presented a home‑occupation application for Mr. Palmer to operate a wild game processing business on a 41.40‑acre parcel at 340 Edwardsford Road in a Lakeside Residential district. The Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission previously approved the request; staff listed conditions the applicant must meet if approved, including that the home occupation be subordinate to the residential use, be conducted inside the dwelling or an accessory structure not exceeding 1,000 sq ft, be nonapparent from outside, limit on‑site employment to the resident plus two outside employees, adequate all‑weather parking, and required permits from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The board approved the application with the staff‑requested conditions.
Ruth noted the items were first readings and vote‑eligible as presented; commissioners moved, seconded and approved both items by voice vote.
