The Washington Unified board voted to renew its vendor agreement with the Yolo Food Bank to serve three community schools during the 2026–27 academic year.
Staff said the item was returned to the board with additional information requested at a prior meeting; after review, trustees approved renewal. One trustee recommended that, when food is sent home, the food bank include recipe suggestions or a menu to help families make use of unfamiliar items.
"I thought President Coffey had a good recommendation of when food comes home, having sometimes a menu that comes with that," one trustee said. Staff confirmed similar efforts have been used in the past.
The contract renewal was approved by roll-call vote. Staff will coordinate any suggested recipe/menu materials with the food bank.
