Commissioners approve KDHE grant applications for county health programs
Summary
The board approved a package of state grants for immunization, maternal and child health, emergency preparedness and other routine public‑health programs as submitted by county health staff (Sarah Hodges).
A county health department representative walked commissioners through the department’s standard state grant package — including an Immunization Action Plan (IAP), maternal and child health funding, public health emergency preparedness (PHEP), the newly separated universal home‑visitor grant and a regional chronic‑disease reduction grant.
Board members moved and seconded a motion to approve the health department’s KDHE grant applications as submitted by Sarah Hodges; the motion passed by voice vote. Staff stated the county’s formula state funding and regional grant shares are roughly consistent with last year’s amounts and that the department expects to receive awards on the usual federal and state schedule.
“These grants are pretty standard — immunization, maternal child health, PHEP — and we’re pretty much right on,” the presenter said when summarizing the package.
The chair and county treasurer will sign the applications per standard practice; staff will scan and circulate the signed forms to county records.
