County officials met with Beasley Architect and staff Nov. 14 to review plans and costs for a proposed animal shelter. Architect Karen Beasley described changes to the north side of the building, added fencing for livestock, and provided a rough cost estimate of about $800,000 that did not include building pads, concrete or asphalt.
Deputy Boyd reviewed product and material research and presented supplier quotes; Engineer Coleman offered to handle excavation and suggested using Ohio Hi-Point students to assist. Commissioners heard that contractors were reluctant to give firm estimates while material prices remain volatile; the architect recommended advertising bid documents Dec. 2 with bid openings in early January.
