Troup County to accept $2,400 USTA Georgia facilities grant; county will fund $2,400 match

County parks staff briefed the board on a USTA Georgia Facilities Grant award and requested permission to accept the grant and purchase equipment.
Lance Dennis said the county was awarded $2,400 toward a $4,800 budget to cover nets, net posts and related supplies. "Pleased to say that we were awarded, a total of $2,400," he told commissioners, adding that the county will provide the required $2,400 match from his general fund. Dennis said the county will not purchase equipment until the check arrives; when asked, he replied that "it's in the mail."
Dennis also told the board he plans to pursue additional USDA and other grant opportunities later this year to support maintenance and improvements to county courts and facilities. Commissioners did not vote to spend funds beyond approving acceptance of the grant; Dennis said the match was already budgeted in his department's line items.
