Planning staff recommends approval of Herron rezoning to allow parcel combination

Planning staff presented a rezoning request from Thomas and Brenda Herron to change a 2.9-acre parcel at 621 Oldmize Road from Residential Single to Agricultural Residential so it can be combined with an adjacent parcel for tax purposes.
"Staff does believe that this is an appropriate rezoning, as the parcels immediately adjacent to the east and Northeast are already zoned agricultural residential," said the staff member (speaker 4). The staff member noted the request would align zoning with neighboring properties and recommended approval.
A nearby property owner who spoke in favor (speaker 6) said, "I purchased a property a couple years ago and didn't realize it was a single residential," and explained that combining the parcels would reflect the owner's intention and simplify tax treatment. There was no recorded opposition and the public hearing for the item was closed.
The commission voted to forward the recommendation to the Board of Commissioners; staff advised that the Board is scheduled to consider these items at its March 25 meeting.
