Barber County approves road contracts and a $420,000 track loader amid resident complaints about grading

Pavement Pros, LLC was awarded the Sun City Road crack-seal contract for $38,088.30 after the board opened bids. For the countywide 2026 scrub-seal project the paper bid from Heft and Sons, LLC of $518,428.50 was accepted over an online bid from Vance Brothers.
Separately, the board approved purchase of a 2026 963 track loader for $420,000 (financing $420,500 at 4.99% interest over seven annual payments of $72,644.28) to support county road work. Earlier in the Jan. 12 meeting resident Keith Yearout complained about grading on Hackberry Road; Public Works Director Larry Conner said roads would continue to be maintained under current practices.
