On Jan. 15, 2026, the Barber County Commission held a special phone conference at which Fire Chief Rick Wesley requested a burn ban. Commissioner Roe moved to implement a burn ban effective immediately through the Jan. 26 meeting; Commissioner Mills seconded and the motion passed. The board planned to revisit the ban at the Jan. 26 meeting.
At the Jan. 26 meeting the board voted to drop the burn ban as of that day. Fire Chief Rick Wesley also told the commission he planned to publish Resolution 2025-04 about burn regulations; the discussion did not include additional rule changes or immediate enforcement details beyond the published resolution.
