The American Fork City Council approved an agreement with the American Fork Chamber of Commerce for management of Steel Days and accepted grant funding to replace docks at the American Fork Boat Harbor.
Council agreed the Chamber will deliver a post-event report by Oct. 31 each year and that renewal or consideration for renewal of the multi-year agreement will occur by the first council meeting in December. Council Member Hunter requested annual reviews after organizers complete the event; the final motion included a reporting and renewal timeline to provide both parties time to negotiate changes before the next year.
Parks staff described a Division of Wildlife Resources grant of $27,000 to replace existing docks; Council approved a cooperative agreement to accept the funding and authorized the mayor to sign. Staff said replaced docks would be repurposed on the opposite side of the harbor for kayak and paddleboard use and that remaining funds could be used for swimming platforms and kayak launches.
Both actions passed by roll call vote with unanimous support.
