The Council adopted a land-use map amendment and a zone change for Dixie Well (approximately 943 South 900 West), moving 0.78 acres from Residential Very-Low Density to the Institutional (PF) designation and rezoning the parcel accordingly. The changes were presented by Development Services staff as aligning the parcel's use to planned public facilities.
Separately, Council approved a related construction contract for the Dixie Well Drilling Project. The Council awarded the contract to Hydro Resources–Rocky Mountain, Inc. for $2,327,733 and approved a city-held construction and engineering contingency of $200,000. The motion passed by recorded vote. Council comments emphasized timely action to retain an economic development opportunity and to address infrastructure needs.
Staff noted the land-use amendment for nearby parcels at 375 South 860 East to change from Planned Community to Design Commercial and rezoning to GC-1 was separated from a larger update to avoid delaying a near-term development opportunity for parcels too small to meet planned community acreage minimums; the Council adopted those amendments and the related ordinance the same evening.
