Krista, Tiburon's Artist Laureate, presented a detailed update on a Bay-focused "waterline" project and related outreach at the July 28 Heritage & Arts Commission meeting. She said her installation currently at the Bay model is listed with SF Art Week and that alignment with that calendar offers visibility across the Bay Area. "We are a part of that with Tiburon Town Hall," she said, describing opportunities to invite scientists, historians and other artists to contribute.
Krista described the work as a collage using imagery from the Bay Conservation and Development Commission's sea-level-rise maps and Antarctic ice imagery to frame the Bay "as a living body." She proposed a multi-year engagement that could include an upstairs gallery show during January's SF Art Week, Earth Day walks and school partnerships. "So right now, this is what's at SF Art Week," Krista said, and asked the commission to confirm January availability to anchor invitations and deadlines for submissions.
Commissioners suggested practical outreach partners — local schools, the Audubon Society, Rotary and library exhibitions — and discussed how to balance the laureate's independence with practical staff support. Staff said the calendar is open and agreed to add a related item to the next agenda so the commission can confirm a January reservation; commissioners expressed support for reserving the upstairs gallery while noting that formal action to create an ad hoc committee would be considered at a later meeting.
