Council approves Steel Days management agreement and accepts $27,000 grant for boat-harbor docks

The Council approved an agreement allowing the American Fork Chamber of Commerce to manage Steel Days for up to three years, with an annual review and a requirement that the Chamber submit a post-event report by Oct. 31 with renewal considered at the first Council meeting in December. Council Member Hunter said the schedule will allow organizers to review outcomes and negotiate changes well before the next event; the Mayor Pro Tem was authorized to sign the current agreement.
Separately, the Council adopted Resolution No. 2026-06-32R to accept a $27,000 cooperative grant from the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife Resources, to replace docks at the American Fork Boat Harbor. Community Services staff said the existing docks will be replaced and repurposed on the harbor's opposite side for kayaks and swimming; any remaining funds would support swimming platforms and kayak launches.
