Council approves several land-use and zone changes; awards Dixie Well drilling contract

The Council approved multiple land-use and zoning actions during the June 23 meeting. Council adopted Ordinance No. 2026-06-11 to rezone approximately 3.13 acres at 714 South 600 East from PI-1 to GC-2 to support hotel-oriented frontage along I-15. The Council also approved a land-use amendment and zone change for parcels at approximately 375 South 860 East, moving them from Planned Community to Design Commercial and rezoning to GC-1 (Resolution No. 2026-06-31R and Ordinance No. 2026-06-13); staff said the parcels were too small to meet planned-community minimums and that the change would retain an economic development opportunity.
For the Dixie Well site at approximately 943 South 900 West, the Council approved a Land Use Map amendment and rezoned 0.78 acres from PR-3.0 to PF (Resolution No. 2026-06-30R and Ordinance No. 2026-06-12). The Council also awarded the Dixie Well Drilling Project to Hydro Resources-Rocky Mountain, Inc. for $2,327,733 and approved a city-held construction and engineering contingency of $200,000. Council members said the action preserves development opportunities and advances planned infrastructure work.
