Board of DD forecasts $1.7M deficit in 2025 budget; requests waiver-match increase

Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities Superintendent Krista Oldiges presented the board's 2025 budget to county commissioners during the Oct. 31 meeting. Oldiges reported a predicted $1.7 million deficit for 2025 and a year-to-date shortfall of about $800,000. She said the board was awarded a $250,000 ARPA grant and projected adding 24 additional waiver slots in 2025, while anticipating a roughly 30% increase in waiver-match payments to providers.
Oldiges outlined cost-saving measures including closing a kitchen to save operations costs, sharing a business director with Hardin County, selling unused vehicles and equipment, and seeking reimbursement agreements with school districts for special-education preschool services; she said three school districts had agreed to reimburse the DD board for those services thus far. The board and commissioners discussed waiver cost projections and approaches to reduce the predicted deficit.
