Homeowners press commissioners for itemized costs and clarity on who pays for LID

Homeowners at the July 30 hearing told the county they had limited time to review the proposed Local Improvement District and lacked an itemized breakdown of what the assessment would cover.
Scott Reno, a resident of East Cherokee Heights, said the July 18 notice left homeowners little time to consider the proposal and asked whether earlier rate increases intended to fund repairs would be adjusted or remain in place if the LID is approved. "This kinda got sprung on us on July 18 when we all received the notice," Reno said, adding that he currently opposes the LID "for now."
Other residents raised distribution questions: David Lloyd asked whether the roughly 20% of saddles already replaced were part of costs the LID would cover or whether those past expenses remain outstanding. "What's the funding of the LID intended to cover? If 20% have been done, is that cost already realized and hasn't been paid for?" Lloyd asked.
Commissioners and county staff said homeowners would receive additional detail; the board voted to table the matter to allow the HOA to return with clearer financial information and to let homeowners discuss the proposal at the HOA's upcoming meeting.
