Commission Restores Limited Commercial Designation for 68 Hillcrest Road

The Board voted to restore a limited commercial designation to 68 Hillcrest Road as part of a zoning-map text amendment approved June 11.
Staff told commissioners the property "is used as a commercial use, and, it is now as of August 1, it was rezoned to the LR. Well, it was originally General commercial." Staff recommended restoring the limited commercial designation because the parcel had previously been commercial and limited commercial is more appropriate for neighborhood contexts than highway commercial uses.
Commissioners asked for clarification on the difference between limited and highway commercial; staff explained limited commercial is intended for lower-impact, neighborhood-compatible uses. A motion to approve the text amendment was made, seconded, and carried by raised hands.
