Resident questions planning commission appointment; county counselor says approval not required

County Counselor Bernard Irvine responded, saying the item that Minton called a “nomination” was in fact an appointment that did not require approval by the other commissioners, and that he was working on a resolution to address related matters. Resident Matt Ubel also asked about an individual named Lance Onstott with PEC and whether emails from that person to planning and zoning were known; Nathan Bergman clarified that Onstott is with an engineering firm out of Topeka.
The minutes record the exchange and the counselor’s clarification; the board did not take further action on the appointment during the June 29 meeting.
