Highway committee awards 2026 asphalt contracts to Northeast Asphalt and Kartechner Brothers

The Calumet County Highway Committee on March 11 accepted staff recommendations to award 2026 asphaltic concrete pavement work to Northeast Asphalt for County Trunk M, County Trunk HH and County Trunk D projects and to reserve additional 2026 asphalt projects for Northeast Asphalt and Kartechner Brothers.
Commissioner Chad Scheinoha told the committee three bids had been received from MCC Inc., Northeast Asphalt and Kartechner Brothers and recommended the split awards. Supervisor Kathleen Thunes moved to accept the recommendation; Supervisor Ty Stuckmann seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The committee did not record any dissenting votes. Staff will proceed with contracting and project scheduling under the approved award framework.
