The Finance Committee approved several substantial appropriations on April 7 that affect county finances and ongoing projects.
On behalf of Wyoming County Community Hospital, the committee approved 2025 appropriations covering full-time wages ($2,646,637.60), capital equipment ($5,040.32), contractual costs ($7,775,296.42) and retirement ($349,848.62). These were chiefly funded by Intergovernmental Transfer (IGT) hospital income ($7,220,748.00), additional hospital income ($1,511,569.05) and unrestricted fund balance ($2,044,505.91). Motion by Klein carried.
Separately, the Planning Department received ARPA-funded appropriations to support the county comprehensive plan and the ESD ConnectAll project: professional service contracts ($115,611.98 with $95,611.98 federal ARPA funds), advertising ($3,175) and a $71,319.94 special economic development appropriation. Motions to approve these re-appropriations and project funding carried with recorded ayes by present members.
Committee discussion noted fund balance at year-end was approximately $32 million and Budget Officer Cook indicated actuals were close to budget figures. The committee instructed Budget Officer Cook and staff to provide planned presentations on health-insurance renewal rates and self-insurance feasibility at a future meeting.
