Road superintendent reports equipment shortages, FEMA-road inspections and needed repairs

At the Nov. 17 meeting Road Superintendent Perry Holmes gave a status update on parish road work and equipment. He said two graders are running but one is broken and the jury is awaiting a replacement cylinder from New York; another grader is without an operator. Holmes said two GOHSEP personnel will inspect work completed on FEMA-designated roads and the jury hopes to secure additional funding to add gravel to those routes.
Holmes also reported that tank cars on 'Aunt Marie's Road' have bulkhead failures; he has hired a welder to repair them and expects the contractor to take over further work. He noted that seasonal grass cutting has largely ended and asked jurors to report any remaining 'hot spots' that need attention. Holmes said Assistant Road Superintendent Paul Hodnett is off this week and that DOTD bridge inspections will begin in the next few weeks after a recent meeting with inspectors.
