Winn Parish road crews advance grading work; temporary repairs reopened Harrisonburg Bridge

Road Superintendent Perry Holmes told the Winn Parish Police Jury that all four graders are currently operational and that several Rac projects have started. He said the crew expects the Eugene Garrett Road project to finish the following day and then move to Little Mail Route as stone deliveries return to the area.
Holmes reported the crew made repairs after the Harrisonburg Bridge was closed and that the bridge has been reopened temporarily. He said the formal contract letting for the bridge repair is expected in June, after which the bridge will be closed for a longer period while the contracted work proceeds. Holmes also noted receipt of the 25% match money on FEMA road projects and that staff are compiling prices to start those repairs.
Assistant Road Superintendent Paul Hodnett added that grass-cutting tractors are being serviced ahead of spring and that side-boom work is active; he said pothole patching is "slim to none" at this time. The Jury approved a separate motion to assist the Village of Calvin with pothole patching on Front and Poole streets and to supply dirt to McDade Park.
