Commission approves vacating platted but unbuilt roads in Dickinson Manor subdivision

The Cass County Commission on May 13 approved Resolution 26-44, authorizing the vacation of platted but unconstructed roadways within the Dickinson Manor subdivision under Section 71.270, RSMo. The commission recorded a vote of 2 in favor and 0 against.
Valerie McCovellen, a county staff member, said the subdivision was divided into many small lots and that the western half was never developed. "This is an older subdivision, that was broke up into many smaller lots," she told the commission, explaining that one owner now seeks to vacate the unbuilt roads so the plats can be rearranged into larger lots for sale.
During the public-comment period, realtor Jim Campbell described leading the replatting effort for a roughly 20-acre parcel and thanked county staff, township representatives and the surveyor team for helping move the project forward. "4 families will have the opportunity to build their homestead on the piece of Cass County property and create roots there for years to come," Campbell said.
After no further questions or opposing comments, the commission closed public comment and approved the resolution. The action will permit the property owner to pursue replatting consistent with state statute; the resolution citation was recorded as Section 71.270, RSMo. The county clerk will place the signed resolution in the official record.
