Council approved a contract piggybacking Pompano Beach's procurement to buy and install two chlorine tanks from Odyssey Manufacturing for $35,650, an item budgeted in the FY25 water and sewer capital budget. Director Crockett explained that one of the existing brand tanks had failed and the new tanks include 2-inch foam insulation and a white mastic over the foam to protect hypochlorite from UV and heat degradation; insulation is expected to save roughly 3% per year on chemical usage (about $3,800/year) and extend tank life by about two years.
Council asked about wind tie-down ratings and ultrasonic level sensors; staff confirmed tie-downs rated for 160 mph and that existing ultrasonic sensors will be transferred to the new tanks. The motion to authorize the town manager to execute the piggyback contract carried unanimously, 5-0.
