Board approves letter of support for $1M competitive highway bridge grant

Laura Sievertz of the county’s Secondary Roads office asked the board to approve a resolution and letter of support that would allow Woodbury County to participate as a subrecipient in a Competitive Highway Bridge Program grant for two bridges near Bronson. She told the board "we are able to get pretty much $1,000,000 on these 2 bridges near Bronson to replace."
Sievertz summarized the subrecipient responsibilities and noted that if awarded the county would enter a federal-aid agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation and be responsible for matching funds or costs beyond the grant share. The board approved the resolution and directed the chair to sign; the vote was recorded as unanimous 4-0.
