Supervisors adopt department-level FY2026 appropriation resolution

Ryan Erickson of board administration told supervisors he reorganized the appropriation resolution to report authorized spending limits by department rather than by function, saying the department-level presentation is clearer for users and consistent with how neighboring counties present their budgets. "This is a slightly different format than it was in previous years," he said, and described the mechanics of departments requesting additional funds if they exceed their authorized amounts.
Supervisor discussion was limited; the board moved to approve the FY2026 appropriation resolution as presented and the motion passed 5-0. Erickson said the change is intended to streamline department budgeting and clarify when offices need to seek additional appropriations.
