Woodbury County approves modest employee health-plan contribution increases

Melissa Thomas, the county’s human resources director, asked the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors to raise employee health-fund contributions to help offset new prescription-related costs created by state law. "I am asking, for the increases that are in the backup," Thomas said, and asked the board to add July 1, 2025, as the effective date.
Thomas told supervisors that last week the governor signed "Senate File 383" into law, which includes a pharmacy dispensing fee of $10.68 per script and other changes that affect rebate allocation and plan design. She recommended raising the family monthly contribution by $40 and the single contribution by $20; supervisors approved the increase unanimously, 5-0. Thomas said the increases should be sufficient through Dec. 31 but that the board may need to revisit rates after a planned RFP for a pharmacy benefit manager and follow-up analysis of the law’s impacts.
