County engineer to seek SS4A grant for $6.8M Route V64 improvements; 20% local match required

Van Buren County plans to pursue an SS4A grant for roadway improvements on Route V64, County Engineer Ryne Thornburg told the board May 27. An updated project cost estimate from French-Reneker is $6,800,000, and Thornburg said the SS4A program requires a 20% local match, which the county plans to supply from its Farm-to-Market account.
Thornburg said he will work with RC&D Pathfinders on preparing the grant application. No formal commitment of match funds beyond the statement of source was recorded in the minutes; the board did not take a separate funding vote during the session.
