Van Buren County approves ISAC HIPAA program for FY2026 at $1,950

Van Buren County supervisors on June 9 authorized Chairman Mark Meek to sign a Service Agreement to participate in the Iowa State Association of Counties HIPAA program for fiscal 2026 at a cost of $1,950.00. County Auditor Lisa Plecker told the board the ISAC program offers legal consultation, memos and training for county employees.
"The County would receive basic consultation with attorneys that deal with HIPAA matters, access to memos and other resources generated through the HIPAA program, and training for employees," Plecker reported. The motion to authorize participation passed unanimously, with supervisors Meek, Waugh and House voting in favor.
The board did not direct additional county staff changes as part of the agreement; the decision commits the county to the ISAC service fee for the coming fiscal year and makes the program resources available to county employees. The authorization was made by a motion from Supervisor Waugh, seconded by Supervisor House.
