County Engineer Ryne Thornburg updated supervisors on secondary road work including the Comanche Quarry rock pile and Route J16 slurry leveling. Thornburg said the county may use a handwritten warrant to purchase a used skid sprayer if inspection is satisfactory. He also reported watershed training and scheduled NRCS watershed inspections.
On grant-writing for a Safe Streets & Roads application, Thornburg reported Kimley Horn would perform a preliminary assessment for $500 and a full application for $20,000; RC&D Pathfinders offered to write the entire grant for $3,000. The Board asked Thornburg to check whether Kimley Horn would do only the preliminary assessment and have RC&D prepare the full application if so; if Kimley Horn insisted on a full engagement, the Board indicated it would have RC&D do all the writing.
