The council voted 5–0 to authorize a piggyback contract with M & M Asphalt Maintenance, Inc., doing business as All County Paving, to mill and repave West Pine Street between South Broadway and South 3rd Street for $48,587.50.
Public Services staff explained the work was added to an existing contract for an adjacent water main project and that the firm had already performed milling and paving on the corridor. Eddie Crockett told the council the town can fund the work from several sources: fuel tax receipts, the infrastructure surtax (which staff noted will sunset in December), or the general fund reserves. Council member Mason moved to approve the agreement and authorized the town manager to execute the contract and any amendments.
Staff said the project addresses numerous patched areas on West Pine Street and that a formal budget amendment will be prepared if surtax funds are used. The motion carried unanimously.
