Council approves FIND grant application for Bicentennial Park seawall

The Lantana Town Council voted 5–0 April 14 to approve Resolution R042025 and authorize the town manager to submit an application to the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) Waterways Assistance program for a 50% match to fund Bicentennial Park seawall replacement and upland park improvements.
Eddie Crockett explained staff guidance from a FIND meeting advising submission for a $900,000 grant that would match town funds for a total project cost estimated at $1.8 million. "They advised us at that time to submit for a $900,000 grant, this being a 50% match," Crockett said. He told the council that engineering work is still in progress and that future presentations will provide more detailed flood‑mitigation estimates and design implications for adjacent properties.
Council members asked about potential impacts on neighboring parcels and whether improvements could prompt litigation over water trespass; staff acknowledged past litigation and said those issues will be reviewed during project design. The resolution authorizes the town manager to execute the application and related amendments; the motion carried 5–0.
