Council hears water-treatment update; water-main phase 2 design due in February

Public Services Director Eddie Crocker told the Lantana Town Council that the town has finished internal and external resin replacement on five filter vessels at the water treatment plant and expects the work to resolve prior water clarity issues.
"I'm pleased to report that we have completed all 5 of the vessels internally and externally in terms of resin replacement and protective coating," Crocker said. He noted additional valve work and computer-system updates are underway and asked residents to report any water clarity problems so staff can investigate.
Council also discussed the town's water-main replacement schedule. Crocker said phase 1 is nearly complete and phase 2 is "almost designed" and expected to be fully designed in February; he said the work will extend to the dead end by the interstate on West Pine and acknowledged it will cause traffic issues during construction but predicted it would proceed more smoothly than a prior project.
The council did not take formal action on the water-main timeline at the meeting; staff encouraged residents to report distribution problems and promised to continue updates as the phase‑2 design and schedule are finalized.
