The Town Council approved a package of land‑use applications to allow construction of the Lantana Village planned mixed‑use development. Council granted the special exception SE24‑002 to create a plan development combining three parcels (1201 S. Dixie, 1301 S. Dixie and 457 Grenell/ Grenell Circle), approved the site plan SP2042 and approved the landscape plan LP24‑0014. Each motion passed 5‑0 after staff and the applicant presented the project and public commenters spoke in support.
Staff and the applicant described project phasing and community benefits. Staff said Phase 1 will include three mixed‑use buildings and four residential buildings, totaling roughly 307 residential units and about 12,000 square feet of commercial space, with three‑story buildings and substantial public open space. The applicant proffered multiple community benefits and waivers in exchange for the planned development status; the applicant stated: "we're proposing 537 trees where 387 are required" and also offered EV charging (20 stations in phase 1 and 14 in phase 2). Council moved to approve the special exception with the conditions and inclusion of all application documents in the town file; the motion passed unanimously.
Motions were made on the record: Doctor Morehouse moved to approve the special exception and Council member Castle seconded; subsequent motions approved the site plan and the landscape plan, each by a 5‑0 vote. Conditions of approval and the list of waivers and community benefits are recorded in the town's application file and are part of the development order.
