Nick Holtritz, the town's development services director, told council the amendment reflects the townwide master plan and prior council consensus. During the reading, the town attorney described the ordinance as a text amendment to the future land‑use element that will be transmitted to the State Land Planning Agency. "All this text amendment is doing is changing the maximum number of dwelling units from 15 to 25 in the mixed use land use category," the town attorney said on the dais. The council voted in favor of the ordinance with an oral vote of five ayes and zero nays.
The change was presented as consistent with earlier Planning Commission review and a prior council workshop where staff said the town expressed support for increased MXD density under the Live Local Act. The council did not indicate any conditions attached to the ordinance itself; related site‑specific approvals for Lantana Village were considered separately and are covered in a companion item.
