Supervisors review six-year road plan as residents press for paving and safety fixes

Ryan Locker (assistant resident engineer, DDOT) reviewed the secondary six-year plan, listed priority projects (including Randolph/Paris Road, Cotton Tower Road, Hobson Road and Brown Road) and said crews are addressing maintenance items and conducting speed studies where crash data suggests the need.
Residents pressed the board to move faster on local priorities. Norwood Patterson urged approval of paving for Route 675 (Crow) in the 2026–27 budget cycle, saying the road serves several households and has been on the list for decades: "please please do not let this go on any longer." Other commenters raised concerns about a newly dredged ditch on Columbia Road that they say creates a steep hazard for drivers.
Locker described short-term responses such as vegetation trimming, dust-control measures and the use of temporary materials, and said VDOT will deploy speed-monitoring towers on Route 45 to inform whether a formal speed study is warranted. Supervisors acknowledged limited funds and said they will continue to monitor problem segments and consider reallocations in future cycles.
The board approved the secondary plan as presented and took related votes on appropriations earlier in the meeting.
