Board renews several special‑education and service contracts, extends dairy supply agreement

The board approved a series of renewals and an amendment that together keep a set of vendor services in place for the 2026–27 school year.
Monique Stovall asked the board to approve Amendment No. 1 to the Crystal Creamery dairy products contract, describing the vendor as successful; staff said the extension will cost about $300,000 and be paid from Cafeteria Fund 13.
Carla (special education staff) presented renewals for multiple contracts that support services required under IDEA and state law. She said the renewals were necessary because the district still faces staffing shortages for specialized roles. Contracts approved include:
• Speech and occupational services with Developmental Therapy Services of Sacramento (about 13.3 FTE speech; 3.0 FTE occupational therapy, serving roughly 800 students). • Renewal with Behavioral Analytic Solutions to provide Registered Behavior Technician support for a small number of students requiring 1:1 support. • A renewal with Jabber Gym LLC for contracted physical therapy (approximately 0.6 FTE split between a physical therapist and assistant, serving roughly 20 students). • Transportation services with EverDriven Technologies LLC for students placed in non‑public schools outside district boundaries (about 10 students). • A renewal with Connected Speech Therapy for approximately 6.3 FTE of districtwide speech services (supporting about 345 students preschool–8).
Carla said contracts include provisions allowing adjustments or reductions (typically with 30 days’ notice) if district hiring reduces contractor reliance. Trustees asked about evaluation of vendors and continuity of staff; Carla said the district monitors service levels and includes replacement/substitute provisions in contracts where needed.
The board approved the contract renewals and the Crystal Creamery amendment by voice vote.
